Camp Planet D - Mini Sesssion

American Diabetes Association Camp

About Camp Planet D

The mini session is an option for first time campers or campers age 11 and under. Mini campers have access to all camp activities that full session campers do including carnival night! If your child has not had previous overnight experiences you may want to think about the mini camp option. The fees have been reduced from the full session.

The American Diabetes Association’s residential camp program for children with diabetes is held at the Tall Oaks Conference Center property which is owned and operated by the Christian Church of Greater Kansas City. Camp offers children with diabetes the opportunity to learn how to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle while managing their diabetes. It also teaches campers they are not alone and gives parents a needed break from the day to day responsibilities of diabetes management. Camp activities feature swimming, horseback riding, outdoor skills, volleyball, basketball, archery and tons of other fun activities, plus a few surprises! Scholarships are available.

This woodland setting is a wonderful way to commune with nature while staying in close proximity to several centers of population. Tall Oaks is located just 15 miles from both the western boundary of the Greater Kansas City region & the NE corner of Lawrence, KS, as well as 33 minutes from downtown Kansas City, MO.

The American Diabetes Association is committed to providing educational information and referral services for children with diabetes and their families, advocating for fair and quality treatment of children with diabetes in schools, and increasing federal funding for diabetes research.
