Financial Assistance for Camp

Financial Assistance to American Diabetes Association Camps

It’s easy to apply for financial assistance/campership to an American Diabetes Association Camp. First you and your child need to decide which Camp to go to.

Then:

  • Request the Campership Application from your local American Diabetes Association.
  • Complete the application.
  • Submit the application with a copy of your 1040, 1040EZ or 1040A as your proof of income to your local American Diabetes Association.

Financial Assistance for Other Diabetes Camps

While the American Diabetes Association is the largest provider of Diabetes Camps in the world, you may live in a place where a Camp operated by the Association is not available.
That’s why we have relationships with other Diabetes Camps that meet our tough standards for program quality and medical care.

To apply to a Diabetes Camp that is not operated by the American Diabetes Association, follow these three steps:

Step One

Register your child at one of the following Camps. Your child must be registered and accepted at the camp before you can receive a campership.

Camp Seale Harris - Hoover, AL
Camp Sugar Fall - Hoover, AL
Camp Conrad Chinook - Palm Desert, CA
Camp Hodia - Boise, ID
Clara Barton Camp - North Oxford, MA
Joslin Diabetes Camp - Charlton, MA
Camp Gales Creek - Portland, OR
Camp Challenge @ Camp Oak Hill - Oxford, NC
Camp Harrisburg  - Bloomsburg, PA
Camp Setebaid  - Berwick, PA

The following camps already receive campership funding support from the American Diabetes Association. Please contact these camps directly to apply for assistance:

Lions Camp Merrick, Camp Glyndon Diabetes Program, Maryland
Florida Diabetes Camps, Florida

If the program you would like to attend is not on our list, please provide the program name and contact information to youth@diabetes.org.

Step Two

  • Download and complete the Campership Application to a non-ADA Diabetes Camp.
  • Mail the application with the required proof of income (a copy of your 1040, 1040EZ, or 1040A) to Youth Initiatives, Attn. Campership, 1701 N. Beauregard Street, Alexandria VA 22311.

Step Three

  • You will be notified of the amount of assistance you will receive. Once your registration and acceptance to the camp is verified, a check in your child's name will be mailed directly to the camp.
  • If the campership you receive does not pay the entire camp fee, be sure to send payment for the remaining balance to the camp.
  • If for any reason, your child cannot attend camp after a campership has been given, please notify the camp. Families who do not let the camp know their child is unable to attend camp will not be eligible for future Financial Assistance from the Association.

Camperships

Regardless of your ability to pay for Camp, the American Diabetes Association is committed to providing a camp experience for children living with diabetes.

We subsidize the true cost of Camp for every camper who attends an American Diabetes Association Camp by at least 50 percent.

In addition, camperships are available to help families pay the Camp fee. The amount of assistance awarded is based on financial need. We use a sliding scale to determine if you qualify for a full or partial campership.

Check out the scale we use to determine the amount of financial assistance we provide.

Thanks to our campership supporters, the American Diabetes Association is able to offer financial assistance.

Our National Campership supporters include:

  • Eli Lilly and Co.
  • Change for the Children Foundation
  • Jerome S. and Grace H. Murray Foundation

And generous donors who contribute to the American Diabetes Association throughout the year.
