Carol’s Story

Carol HatcherCarol Hatcher clearly remembers the day she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 12. Nearly 30 years later, Carol— who once feared needles—still recalls the dread of being told she’d need three shots of insulin daily.

Now, Carol is a successful writer, wife, and mother of three … and she’s not afraid of needles anymore. Moreover, she’s thrilled with new treatments that make diabetes management easier.

However, Carol still hopes to see more change — the fundamental, transformational initiatives that will stamp out diabetes for good.

You can help Carol—and the millions of Americans like her—by making a gift to the American Diabetes Association.
