The consumer products companies that support the ADA at the highest level of sponsor commitment comprise our National Strategic Partners. These companies have made a commitment of at least $1.5 million over three years in support of the Association’s mission.

For more than 15 years, the makers of Cary’s Sugar Free Syrup, Specialty Brands of America, has supported ADA in our efforts to find a cure. They are a national sponsor of Step Out to Fight Diabetes, ADA’s premier fundraising walk event. As an advocate of healthy living, Specialty Brands also develops diabetes-friendly recipes for ADA’s popular “Recipe of the Day” on diabetes.org – helping those who live with diabetes by offering healthier alternatives.

Colgate-Palmolive Company, makers of Colgate Total toothpaste, is supporting ADA’s efforts to educate consumers and health care professionals about the importance of oral care in the management of diabetes. Components of this effort will include the development of “Ask the Dentist” – an online chat series on diabetes.org – which will enable consumers to ask questions and talk with experts on topics related to oral care and diabetes. In addition, ADA will expand the oral care section of its website to include patient education materials and an interactive learning tool.

CVS/pharmacy’s support of ADA’s advocacy activities includes a “Day with Diabetes” program, which creates awareness among members of Congress about the burden of diabetes. CVS will also support ADA’s 2008 Call to Congress, an event where diabetes advocates from across the country convene in Washington, DC to meet with Members of Congress and other diabetes advocates.

Dignity Memorial Network is supporting ADA’s efforts to raise awareness of healthy living as it relates to life planning. As part of this relationship, ADA will develop a life planner that will include tools and resources to help consumers with personal health and household planning information to enhance quality of life. Working together, ADA and Dignity Memorial will raise awareness of the importance of life planning across the life stages and help individuals take a more proactive role in planning his or her life. Dignity Memorial will also call upon the enthusiasm of their employees to help fight diabetes by participating in ADA’s fund raising events, Step Out to Fight Diabetes and Tour de Cure. Finally, Dignity Memorial will help ADA expand its memorial program by honoring those who have passed away from diabetes.

Gold’s Gym is a national sponsor of Tour de Cure, ADA’s nationwide cycling event that increases awareness of diabetes. Gold’s Gym has teamed up with ADA to both raise funds and promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing and managing diabetes. For the third consecutive year, the company was named the Tour’s “Top National Team.” In addition, as part of their commitment to the diabetes community, Gold’s worked with ADA to develop an “Intro to Fitness Guide” and has developed an on-line fitness resource center that offers fitness information and tips, exercise programs and information about the importance of good health.

Kmart Pharmacy is helping people with diabetes through its support of Step Out to Fight Diabetes, ADA’s signature fundraising walk event. By forming walk teams in stores nationwide and through an annual ADA “Pin–Up” campaign, the company encourages employees and customers to join them in raising funds to find a cure for diabetes. Kmart will also support ADA’s new “Planet D” Youth Initiative (slated to be unveiled in early 2008), which will allow youth with type 1 diabetes to explore and discover new possibilities about themselves and their diabetes while connecting with other children like them.

Liberty Medical is a national charter sponsor of ADA’s I Decide to Fight Diabetes (ID) campaign, which inspires people to live healthier lives and make better choices when it comes to preventing and managing their diabetes and raises funds to support ADA’s mission. Throughout the year, Liberty has created greater awareness of diabetes by promoting ADA and the ID campaign through national advertising and web site support. Liberty has also actively involved both their patients and their own employees in the fight.

Rite Aid through their sponsorship of ADA’s “Ask the Pharmacist” chat series on diabetes.org and the in-store distribution of diabetes educational materials, Rite Aid is providing much needed resources to help people with diabetes better manage their disease. Rite Aid was the first retail pharmacy to develop a relationship with the Association and helps raise funds through their “Walk with Your Pharmacist” corporate walk teams and annual “Pin-Up” campaign. 2007 also marks Rite Aid’s inaugural sponsorship of ADA’s new marquis event, Step Up to Fight Diabetes, which was piloted in Philadelphia in October.

McNeil Nutritionals, maker of Splenda Brands, is committed to help families deal with diabetes by focusing on the nutritional needs of the diabetes community. They support ADA by sponsoring a variety of educational materials for diabetes educators who use the information to help people affected by diabetes learn to eat healthy.

VSP® Vision Care is supporting the American Diabetes Association (ADA) by raising awareness for the detection, prevention, and proper management of diabetes through regular eyecare. The company is sponsoring the Association's Winning at Work program, which is a workplace initiative providing resources to help employees live healthier lives through diabetes education. In addition, VSP will sponsor an "Ask the Eye Doctor" chat series on diabetes.org, and participate in the Association's Diabetes EXPOs, Feria de Saluds and Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes events across the country.
