Transforming Lives Through Advocacy

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is the leading health organization committed to advocating for people with diabetes. Our goal is to ensure state and federal policy makers prioritize diabetes. The policies we prioritize help to provide adequate and affordable health care for people with diabetes, ensure continuous funding of diabetes research programs, end diabetes discrimination, and secure adequate access to insurance and treatments.

We all have a story or reason why we want to put an end to diabetes. Did you know that one of the most effective ways of influencing policy is to share your personal story with your legislator? Personal experiences put a human face to the disease, giving meaning to the statistics and numbers. By connecting on a personal level, lawmakers are more likely to prioritize diabetes-related initiatives, leading to improved treatments, prevention programs, and ultimately, a cure.
