The American Diabetes Association is saddened to hear of the passing of Wilford Brimley over the weekend. We are grateful for his decades of tireless work and dedication to raise awareness about diabetes and his passionate pleas to get tested and not be ashamed. Through his warm and lively spirit, he helped to combat stigma that is often placed on those living with diabetes. In 2008, we were honored to present Mr. Brimley with an award to recognize his lifetime of advocacy. We will continue to support all advocating for those living with diabetes and their loved ones.

We encourage the diabetes community to continue this legacy of advocating for the rights of those living with diabetes and the importance of knowing your numbers. During this difficult time our thoughts and prayers are with the Brimley family, his friends and fans.
